Baseball Season in Washington

The sun is out, the cherry blossoms are blooming, and down at Nationals Park you can hear the crack of bats on balls. Spring is finally here and that means… baseball!

This photo was taken ca. 1925 and shows a sandlot game on the site of what is now a parking lot across from Union Station- originally posted by my esteemed colleagues at Shorpy, “always spmething interesting”! Check out the knickerbocker pants on those sluggers, and if you look closely at Columbus Circle you’ll see a DC unicorn (aka a streetcar- phased out in favor of buses in the 1940’s).
